Thanks Herman!

I have no objection to any person’s religion, be it what it may, so long as that person does not kill or insult any other person, because that other person don’t believe it also. But when a man’s religion becomes really frantic; when it is a positive torment to him; and, in fine, makes this earth of ours an uncomfortable inn to lodge in; then I think it high time to take that individual aside and argue the point with him.

I'm happy to read this quote. I have felt like this Christmas has been particularly trying for me on the religious front. I think that while I have no trouble with and even have some respect for people who have faith or some sort of spiritual understanding I cannot stand religion. I just have such a gut reaction to anyone telling anyone else what to think/do/believe. Whatever.

I missed this comment until today. I really didn't think anyone was reading. Anyway, I'm in agreement with you and I too have a gut reaction whilst I'm being condemned to hell by others. Typically it's very passive but my family lays into me hard every few years and it often leads to weeks of the silent treatment.
